FAQs for being admitted to the Master's program in Bioinformatics
Do I need a certain GPA value or an English language certificate?
Currently, we don't require an English language certificate and also no specific GPA (grade point average) value. You need a good mastery of the English language. Knowledge of the German language is helpful but not required.
What documents do I need for the application?
Your application must contain the following documents:
- Form: "Application for admission to a Master's degree program"
- Documents confirming the successful completion of a Bachelor's or Diploma degree program: conferral documents as well as a transcript of all courses that you completed, including grades and duration (in hours per week or hours per semester).
- (only for non EU/EEA citicens): Confirmation from a university in the country where the applicant earned a Bachelor or Diploma degree stating all admission requirements to a Master's degree program have been fulfilled and the applicant has admission to a corresponding Master's degree program in that country, valid for admission during the semester stated.
All documents must be submitted in the original or as a verified copy and must show the appropriate verification of authenticity (see the guidelines for verification and authentication). Documents in a language other than German or English must be officially translated to German or English by a translator certified in Austria. If the translation was made in a country other than Austria the above guidelines for verifications and authentication apply.
Please note: If you are enrolling at JKU for the first time, it is also necessary to pre-register online until August 31 (for the winter semester) or until January 31 (for the summer semester). Pre-registration can/should be done in parallel to the application process.
